One of the advantages of travelling through Ireland by car is that you can go to places that you want to go to – on your own time and at your own pace. You don’t have to worry about following someone else’s schedule. Time is most especially precious when you go to a place that you can only fully appreciate if you spend hours just soaking in its beauty. You can easily rent a car in one of the many car hire companies that operate in Ireland. One such destination are the Cliffs of Moher in County Clare. Located near the Burren area, the Cliffs of Moher is one of the most spectacular sights in Ireland. Standing at a height of 230 metres from the ground (at its highest point) and almost eight kilometres in length, the Moher Cliffs possesses one of the most amazing views of the country. On a very clear day, a visitor standing on top of the cliff can see the Aran Islands as well as Connemara and its beautiful valleys and hills. Located south of the Cliffs of Moher is the Hag’s Head. The cliffs almost reach their highest point north of O’Brien’s Tower. Built by Cornelius O’Brien, he was a descendant of Boru. O’Brien built the tower mainly to impress women. Another natural feature that’s worth seeing is the Breanan Mor, or the seastack, which stands over 70 metres straight up from the hurtling waves below. The weather surrounding the cliffs is very nippy because of the cold winds blowing in from the Atlantic Ocean.
